Enhancing the Responsiveness of Power Systems

SHARE:

As renewable generation grows, its inherent variability will
challenge current power system operational practices. Also, if plug-in
electric vehicles become popular, uncontrolled charging will strain
the electricity grid. Fortunately, ubiquitous communications offers a
means of coordinating loads, enabling electricity demand to become a
controllable resource that can quickly respond to the needs of the
grid. The seminar will discuss the changing characteristics of the
electricity grid, and consider control issues that arise due to the
highly distributed nature of loads.
