Abstract: Times of technology and industry transition are marked by tremendous opportunity and risk.  Advances in semiconductor technology, edge/cloud computing, and rise of Artificial Intelligence are enabling great leaps in computing applications today, but also confronting technical challenges to further advancement tomorrow.  Power constraints, system architecture, security, and other challenges are substantial, but the principles by which earlier computing waves innovated to overcome their own significant challenges point the way forward at the start of the fourth wave of in computing.

Bio: Samuel H. Fuller is currently the Chief Technology Officer Emeritus and Senior Vice President of R&D at Analog Devices, where he has lead developments in digital signal processing, machine learning algorithms and hardware security. He is also an Affiliated Research Scientist at MIT. Prior to ADI Dr. Fuller was the Vice President of Research at Digital Equipment Corp (DEC) where he led the commercial introduction of Ethernet and established research labs that developed advanced RISC processors, multiprocessor workstations and Alta Vista, the pioneering Internet search engine. Prior to DEC, Dr. Fuller was an Associate Professor of EE and CS at Carnegie Mellon University. Dr. Fuller is a Sr. Fellow of IEEE, Member of the National Academy of Engineering and Fellow of AAAS and the Hertz Foundation. He received his BSEE from the University of Michigan and his PhD from Stanford University.
