Dr. Mo Faisal is the 2023 ECE Rising Star Alumni Award recipient.

Dr. Mo Faisal started Movellus based on his doctoral research conducted under Prof. David Wentzloff at the University of Michigan. In his talk, Dr. Faisal will cover a brief overview of his journey of starting from a PhD student to becoming a CEO of a semiconductor startup. He feels utmost gratitude for the opportunities UM & EECS provided him that positioned him to succeed in his role as the CEO of Movellus. He will particularly focus on the rollercoaster-like nature of building a startup that involves recruiting a team, fundraising, expanding into international markets, and serving difficult customers. He looks forward to having an open discussion with students, faculty and alumni in attendance and answering any questions after his talk.
