ECE Core Values Excellence Award

Award Description

The ECE Core Values Excellence Award is designed to honor staff members who have demonstrated outstanding commitment to the core values of ECE: Motivation and Innovation, Comprehension and Communication, Teamwork and Positivity, and Leadership and Integrity. By integrating these core values into a single award, we celebrate well-rounded individuals who exemplify excellence in every aspect of their roles. This award acknowledges individuals who consistently go above and beyond in fostering a welcoming environment that encourages world-class collaboration and empowers bold ideas.

Nominations will be submitted annually in October and awards will be presented in November. Up to three individual recipients are selected per year. The value of each award is $750.

Award Criteria

Innovation and Motivation  

  • Actively contributes to the development or improvement of departmental processes, systems, or policies by proactively providing excellent service to all and remaining open to creativity in solutions.

Teamwork and Positivity  

  • Demonstrates the ability to work effectively and collaboratively within a team, contributing to a positive work environment through respect.

Leadership and Integrity

  • Displays leadership qualities including, being respectful, responsive, and accountable, even if not in a formal leadership role.

Student and Faculty Support  

  • Aids in the academic and personal success of students and faculty.

Positive Attitude and Integrity  

  • Consistently demonstrates a positive attitude, integrity, and ethical behavior in the workplace.

Impact on Departmental Goals through Comprehension and Communication  

  • Makes significant contributions to the successful completion of departmental projects or strategic initiatives showing a strong grasp of their responsibilities and the impact of their work; supports continuous learning and sharing of expertise in order to foster organized and transparent practices.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

  • Promotes diversity and inclusion, respecting and valuing different opinions and ideas.

Nomination Process

  • All members of the ECE community (students, faculty, staff, and alumni) can nominate.
  • Self-nominations are not permitted.
  • Nominations must include a detailed statement of up to 500 words describing the nominee’s contributions and how the nominee meets the below criteria.
  • Nominations should provide specific examples and evidence of how the nominee meets the criterion.
  • Up to three pieces of supporting documentation, no more than one page in length and 12 point font, may be included in the nomination.
  • All nomination materials remain confidential

Selection Committee

  • A panel including the Chair, UA, HR Manager, and one member outside of ECE will review the nominations to ensure a fair and balanced decision-making process.
