The Economics of a Job: Why Starting or Joining a Start-up Might Make More Sense

Dr. Abdur Chowdhury is the co-founder and CEO of Pushd, a start-up working on contextual understanding in the mobile world. Prior to that, he served as Twitter's Chief Scientist working on trends, search, recommendations, and spam. He joined Twitter after Summize, a company he co-founded, merged with Twitter in 2008. Dr. Chowdhury has also served as Chief Architect for Search at AOL. Additionally, in 2010, he co-founded San Francisco's Alta Vista School, which is focused on STEM education for K-8. Dr. Chowdhury earned his bachelor's and master's degrees in Computer Science from George Mason University, and his PhD in Computer Science from the Illinois Institute of Technology.
