Design of Novel Performance-Optimized Silicon-based Integrated Circuits for Ultra-broadband Wireless/Wireline Communications

Payam Heydari
SHARE:

An overview of novel circuit design ideas for use in the emerging wideband wireless and broadband wireline communication systems will be given. The talk also summarizes some of the research projects in UCI's broadband IC design lab including a paper recently presented at the 2005 International Solid-State Circuits Conference (ISSCC).
Payam Heydari received his B.S. and M.S. degrees (Honors) in Electrical Engineering from the Sharif University of Technology in 1992 and 1995, respectively. He received his Ph.D. degree at the University of Southern California in 2001. He is now an Assistant Professor of the EECS Department at UC Irvine.

During the summer of 1997, he was with Bell-labs, Lucent Technologies where he worked on noise analysis in deep submicron VLSI circuits. He worked at IBM T. J. Watson Research Center on gradient-based optimization and sensitivity analysis of custom integrated circuits during the summer of 1998.

Dr. Heydari is the recipient of the 2005 National Science Foundation (NSF) CAREER Award, and the 2000 Best Paper Award for the International Conference on Computer Design. He was recognized as the 2004 Outstanding Faculty at the EECS Department of the University of California, Irvine.

Dr. Heydari's current research interest is the design and analysis of high-speed analog/RF ICs.
