The Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Undergraduate Advising Office is here and happy to help! Our office is located in 3415 EECS. We are open from 9:00am to 5:00pm, closed from 12:00-1:00pm each day.

Computer Engineering Virtual Drop-In Advising

Computer Engineering virtual drop-in advising is offered from 2:00-4:00pm on Wednesday for CE students with quick questions (~10 minutes or less). For longer conversations, please continue to schedule regular advising appointments using the link above.

Electrical Engineering Virtual Drop-In Advising

Electrical Engineering virtual drop-in advising is offered from 1:00-2:30pm on Tuesday and Thursday for EE students with quick questions (~10 minutes or less). For longer conversations, please continue to schedule regular advising appointments using the link above.

Advising Office Staff

Staff members handle the majority of advising needs for programs in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, and the Electrical Engineering minor such as course planning, declarations, releases/senior audits, facilitating forms/exceptions/letter requests, and connecting to various resources including career planning, wellness, course planning, and campus involvement.

Faculty Advisors

Faculty advisors are best equipped to handle advising questions related to industry knowledge, course content, and graduate school. They are great resources for questions best answered by someone with direct knowledge of the Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering fields.

Peer Advisors

Peer Advisors are current students in Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering who can assist with quick questions about classes, student organizations, course workload combinations, and campus life in general.

“My name is Hanna Chapin and I am a senior studying Computer Engineering with an International Minor for Engineers. I am a member of Engineering Honors, Engineering Global Leadership (EGL). I also play soccer for Victors F.C. club team. I am a member of a research lab on campus and have completed two internships in the automotive industry. “My name is Mike Dillender and I am a junior double majoring in Electrical Engineering and Engineering Physics with a minor in Computer Science. In electrical engineering, my primary focus area is quantum technology and optics, which I research as a member of the Excitonics and Photonics group here at Michigan. In my freetime, I enjoy programming, making analog circuits, reading, and hiking.”

Exceptions/Petitions

Any Computer Engineering or Electrical Engineering student can petition for modification of academic requirements specific to their major. A petition can be submitted to the relevant CE or EE Chief Program Advisor. Here are some petition examples.

Make sure to select your major from the dropdown list, provide detailed rationale, and include supporting information about the request in question. Students must provide enough information for the Chief Program Advisor to be able to make an informed decision.

Please allow 1-2 weeks for a petition decision.
